So . . . now that we have a blog, what are we going to write about?! Well many things come to mind. I don’t think we’re going to run out of topics any time soon.
Still, for our first “real” blog post, I was feeling an obligation to address some topic of importance. It didn’t take too much pondering to settle on the subject of service. Indeed, when you run a small business, it all starts with service. And if you don’t do it well, it can all end with poor service! This is why, in everything we do at SouthGain, we try to maintain our focus on providing the best service possible.
Tonight, the SouthGain team took a little time out to celebrate a successful year. And in true Filipino fashion, we celebrated with food! (Sorry, but Tim nixed the idea of karaoke.) As we enjoyed a relaxing evening at one of the many great restaurants in Louisville (Vincenzo’s), we talked about what makes for a great dining experience. Sure, great food is pretty much a requirement. But more often than not, what really elevates an otherwise “good” dining experience to the level of a “great” dining experience is the service you receive. The best restaurants recognize that their product is not only the food, but also the service provided with it.
Great service doesn’t always mean perfection. Tonight, we all had a good laugh when one of the waiters clumsily managed to knock a straw out of Phivocs’ drink and somehow fling it across the table, right into Joana’s lap! Of course, he apologized profusely, quickly brought another drink, and generally did everything possible to overcome the one small mistake in an otherwise flawless performance.
That’s the philosophy we aspire to at SouthGain. Yes, we sell great products–and you will learn all about them here in the coming weeks and months. But we also strive to provide great service with every sale. When we mess up–and it certainly does happen from time to time–we do everything possible to make things right in the end.
Our waiter tonight was rewarded with a well-deserved tip, and I’m sure we’ll be back to enjoy another meal at Vincenzo’s some day. In the same way, we believe this service-oriented philosophy at SouthGain is the reason we already enjoy a growing base of repeat customers. Stop by our store today and give us a chance to demonstrate!
