Harness The Power of Fruits for Great Skin

Monday, 2012-01-09

Isn’t it nice to have your own beauty products right in your own kitchen? Eating fruits and using them as a part of your beauty regimen is one of the oldest ways to maintain a healthy, youthful skin. Not only are they effective, they’re also a whole lot inexpensive compared to surgical procedures.

If you like fruits, then you’re in for a big treat. If not, then you better read this; it will only take a minute or two. We’ve compiled a list of fruits that you should start eating.

Apple

Used for centuries for their excellent healing powers and an excellent remedy for fine wrinkles, cracked skin, itching skin, and inflammation, apples can also be used as conditioners while preventing dandruff. They work as excellent toners, too! Apple juice is also the best breath freshener.

Apricot and Orange

Apricots are best for sunburn, eczema, and itching. Oranges, on the other hand, are known and effective remedies for pimple and acne and can be used as scar and blemish removal. Apricots and Oranges are rich in Vitamin C, helping to produce collagen that strengthens the capillaries that feed the skin.

Avocado and Banana

Not only can they be made as effective facial masks, avocado and banana are also rich in Vitamin E and other minerals that are known for their anti-aging powers. They make great skin restoratives for anyone over 35.

Cucumber

Cucumbers are famous for their efficiency in getting rid of those appalling dark circles under your eyes; but, their healing powers doesn’t stop there.  They’re good for treating skin eruptions, bulges, and for skin whitening. Effective in preventing pimples, wrinkles, blackheads, and dryness of the face.

Aside from all these tasty fruits and vegetables, there are also effective products that you can use to ensure that young-looking skin. Like Oranges and Cucumbers, Diana Stalder Black Soap also lightens and evens out skin tone for both face and body.  It gently eliminates the appearance of skin pigmentation, age spots, acne scars, blemishes and other forms of melasma.

Diana Stalder Lemon Soap is also an impressive product formulated with an acne-fighting ingredient (salicylic acid) that is not harsh to the skin.  It is particularly good for oily skin and helps prevent the formation of pimples.

After your Banana or Avocado facial mask, you can use Diana Stalder Nourishing Crème to help in exfoliating dead skin cells, stimulating epidermal turn-over and increasing the rate of desquamation.  It revitalizes skin and maintains its elasticity.

Skin Care 101: MAKE it UP to your Skin

Wednesday, 2010-07-28

Wearing make-up on a daily basis is inevitable. In most corporate offices, it has been part of the professional decorum especially when attending meetings or reporting for an interview. For media personalities, make-up gives them a better registry on camera. For most women, make-up boosts their appearance by defining parts of their face and hiding the imperfections.

Whatever the reason maybe, putting make-up on has become a necessity. However, just as essential is watching out for the effects of everyday make-up on the skin.

Concealers and powder that seem to blend well with your face can also clog your pores. Clogged pores result to pimples and blackheads. If you don’t take extra care on keeping the pores breathing, this may lead to enlarged pores and premature skin-ageing. Save your skin with Diana Stalder SBF-Collagen Cream which can be used as a foundation while keeping skin elastic and young-looking.

Cleaning your make-up tools is a must. However, this is often neglected especially when you’re in a rush in the morning or you get home late at night. Leftover cosmetics breed germs and using unwashed brushes and sponge is like feeding bacteria to your skin. In addition to keeping your tools clean, make sure to remove your make-up and wash with deep cleansing soaps like Diana Stalder Licorice Beauty Bar.

Shield the skin from chemicals by putting on moisturizers (and allowing the skin to absorb) before applying make-up. For this, try Diana Stalder Her Facial Lotion. Aside from maintaining skin smoothness, it has a toning effect that makes skin look radiant. Needless to say, take time to research on the ingredients of your make-up. Most brands are coming up with organic or mineral based formulas that are harmless to the skin.

Being beautiful need not be harmful to your skin. After all, a well nourished skin can be even more beautiful even without make up.

Skin Care 101: Caring for Dark Underarms

Tuesday, 2010-05-11

I turned to Google to research about dark underarms, and I found well over 500,000 websites providing information on the topic.  It’s true, dark armpits or underarms is a problem that affects many women and men.

Having dark underarms can be extremely frustrating, especially for women.  It can limit the type of clothing you can wear and it can sometimes be a cause of embarrassment.

For those with dark skin tone, it is quite common to have darker armpits. But there are avoidable factors that also cause skin discoloration issues in the underarm area.

What to avoid

1. Tight Clothing
Constant friction between skin and clothing can attribute to dark underarms.  Avoid wearing tight clothing especially when the weather is hot. Sweat and friction is one of the major cause of underarm discoloration

2. Shaving
It is hygienic to rid your underarm of hair.  However, shaving it off can cause skin darkening. Since the hair is not pulled out from the roots, it becomes thicker and darker.  In addition, shaving also causes ingrown and razor bumps.

A better way of removing underarm hair is by waxing.  You can also check out our article on Safest Hair Removal Treatments.

3. Strong Deodorants and Hair Removal Creams
Products that we use for our underarms may contain strong and harmful chemicals that can cause skin darkening.
These chemicals burn the skin with prolonged use.

Caring For Dark Underarms

Exfoliate

Exfoliating will help remove the outer layers of skin which is already damaged.

The Diana Stalder Exfoliating Kit is designed to remove dead skin cells.  It has a mild peeling effect, removing damaged outer skin layers to allow for regeneration of new smoother and softer skin.  This kit can be used all over the body, but is particularly effective on armpits, knees, elbows and other problem areas. Exfoliating can also prepare your skin for a whitening regimen.

Use the right product

If you must use a deodorant, find a product that contains mild ingredients that will not burn your skin from constant use.

The Diana Stalder Deo Roll-On is designed to eliminate body odor and excessive sweating and whiten your underarm at the same time. It has a whitening ingredient called, arbutin, that effectively lightens dark underarm areas. This product is also commonly used on the bikini line.

Use a Whitening Regimen

One of the most popular home remedies for whitening armpits is using lemon juice and baking powder. But the effect is very gradual that its almost unnoticeable. So most find it more practical to turn to skin lightening products that are now readily available.

Here’s a whitening regimen that is proven to be safe and effective.

Use either the Diana Stalder Papaya Kojic Soap or Diana Stalder Glutathione Soap in the shower. Both soaps are great for overall whitening, choose which one your most comfortable with.

After toweling dry, you can apply the Diana Stalder Surely White Lightening Cream. This cream is designed to start producing results within one week. It’s formulated to increase epidermal cell turnover and protect the skin from age-related breakdown and damage, best of all it lightens the appearance skin pigmentations and evens out the skin tone.

Regardless of the cause, there are now available ways to help lighten underarm discoloration. So don’t lose hope!

Skin Care 101: Matching Skin Type with Skin Care

Thursday, 2010-03-04

Are you having trouble finding the right soap? Does your lotion make your skin even drier?

Well, the first step to getting your products right is to figure out your skin type.

There are three basic types: Oily, combination, and dry.

Knowing your “type” determines your approach to skin care. Though one is born to a certain kind of skin, it can change with time depending upon one’s lifestyle, diet, environment and even, hormonal changes.

Test yourself:

A quick way is to get a regular sheet of blotting paper, and after you’ve washed your face with soap and water, gently dab it over towel-dried skin.

Oily skin will show oil spots over the paper.
Dry skin does not show any oil.
Combination – oily spots will appear in the T-zone area (forehead, nose, chin) but will stay dry in the other parts.

Once you’ve determined your type, here are a few skin care tips:

1. Normal

Since your skin is probably as smooth as a baby’s bottom, you take proper steps to maintain its clarity, elasticity and tone.
Use gentle yet revitalizing products such as the Diana Stalder Vitamin A Beauty Bar, the Diana Stalder Revitalizing Beauty Bar and the Diana Stalder Nourishing Cream.

2.  Dry skin

Dry skin may not be as prone to breakouts as oily skin, but it needs as much (if not more) care. Dry skin tends to flake easily and is prone to irritation. People with dry skin often have more wrinkles.

Use gentle, moisturizing products. Aim for products with natural ingredients. Since dry skin is susceptible to ageing, pick products that contain sunscreen, such as Diana Stalder Skin Moisturizing Lotion (SPF 30) or the Diana Stalder SBF Collagen Cream which will help retain skin moisture and elasticity. The Diana Stalder Glycerine Beauty Bar also helps ease dry skin issues.

3. Oily Skin
Oily skin is the most prone to pimple outbreaks, therefore place an emphasis on exfoliating and deep-pore cleansing. Aim for products that address pimples and blemishes, such as Diana Stalder Tea Tree Beauty Bar or the Diana Stalder Clean and Tone Lotion.

Remember, the skin is the largest organ in the body. It does such a great job protecting us from the hazards of daily living, therefore, it is our job give it the care and attention it deserves.  Plus, finding out the correct information and taking better care of your skin today, will save you time and money tomorrow

The Right Way to Wash your Face

Wednesday, 2010-01-27

Yes, there is actually a proper way to wash your face. Which is very important, because A – you want to maximize the benefit you get from your facial soap or facial wash, and B – if you’re doing it wrong all these years, then its about time you learn the right way to do it!

Use warm water

The right water temperature is vital when washing your face.

It’s highly recommended that you wash your face with warm water. This will expand your pores just enough, so your soap or facial wash will be able to soak through. Gently massage the lather into your face, do this for a minute or less*. That should be enough to remove any clogged dirt. Finish off by rinsing your face with cold water.

Hot water is very harmful. Do you ever notice that your skin turns red, splotchy and starts to peel right after a hot shower during winter? This is because hot water rids the surface of your skin its natural oils and dry up your skin cells, making it more susceptible to sun damage and dirt clogged pores. While cold water closes the pores, so your soap or facial wash product won’t be able to seep in and do its job.

Finding the perfect facial soap

Depending on your skin type or what you’re trying to achieve, you can choose the perfect soap to care for your face.

The Diana Stalder Glutathione Soap is an effective overall whitening soap. It caters to almost any skin type. In addition to whitening the skin, glutathione is also the best anti-oxidant. It will nurture your skin and keep it looking young.

For those with dry skin, the Diana Stalder Papaya Kojic Soap is an effective skin moisturizer. Besides the micro-exfoliation (micro-peeling) effect, it also contains a special blend of extracts that nourishes the skin naturally.

To lighten acne scars, dark spots or other forms of melasma, most users find the Diana Stalder Black Soap to be most effective. While the Diana Stalder Licorice Beauty Bar works best for those with very sensitive skin.

For weekly exfoliation, you can use the Diana Stalder Facial Scrub. The facial scrub contains granules designed to gently scrub away dead skin cells and remove dirt and excess oil. It cleanses and conditions skin, giving it a radiant glow.

*Some product recommends that you leave the lather on for more than a minute for maximum benefit.
